Wood Pellets FAQs
Where do Rocfuel premium quality wood pellets come from - and how are they made?
Rocfuel wood pellets are manufactured in the UK from pure wood chippings and sawdust, free from additives. Sawmills take virgin timber from managed woodlands to make a vast range of products, and the sawdust that remains is used to make pellets of various sizes. Local sourcing is important because it helps produce a fuel source with the lowest possible carbon footprint
The sawdust is compressed, forced through holes in a die and cut into cylindrical shapes, normally of 6mm or 8mm diameter. The heat produced in this process binds the pellets as they cool. The result is a clean, easy to handle product that is dense, has a higher energy content than wood - and takes up less space.
Is there a quality standard for wood pellets?
Europe has been working towards a standard across its members states of CEN/TS 14961-2. We can supply pellets to this standard.
What is the minimum size delivery?
We usually supply a minimum of 20 tonnes if bulk tipped or 5 tonnes if a pneumatic delivery is required. The size and type of delivery will affect the cost per tonne.
Where do you deliver?

Are there Grants available?
There have been Government plans recently announced to promote the use of low carbon fuels under its Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). The intention is to develop a seven-fold increase in renewable heat over the coming decade.
The aim of the RHI is to pay back to you and return above the cost of investment. Please click here to learn more about the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)
