Established in 1988, Norec Ltd became an integral part of the Hargreaves Industrial Services Division in 2006.
Norec has gained an industry-wide reputation for excellence in facilities management, with particular emphasis on materials handling.
Since 1994 the company has been successfully operating and maintaining power station materials handling plants, and the smooth integration into the Hargreaves ‘family’ has presented Norec with additional contract opportunities and new markets to develop.
Norec presents clients with flexible outsourcing options. For some contracts, this can see Norec management and staff taking on significant portions of site-based activity, the Norec team taking full responsibility for operation and maintenance of materials handling plants.
Other contracts see the Norec team responsible for activities such as ash handling, unloading of materials, or equipment and plant maintenance.
Whichever option best suits a particular client’s circumstances, the end result is always the same: Norec’s professional expertise gives clients assurance of quality service, flexibility, and significant cost-savings – an attractive and proven proposition.
In 2007, the Hargreaves Group acquired Simons Bulk Warehousing & Distribution Ltd into the company’s Industrial Services Division, and this business is operated under the Norec ‘umbrella’.
This part of the company specialises in the transportation and storage of minerals, predominantly petroleum coke for our client Conocophillips. (Some 95% of the coke produced at Conocophillips Humber refinery is exported via their dock silo system – with transport provided exclusively by Hargreaves vehicles. The remaining 5% is sold to the home market to customers such as Rio Tinto Alcan at Lynemouth in Northumberland, and Carbon International at Scunthorpe.
Safety is paramount at Norec; the company has, to date, been awarded no fewer than 14 British Safety Council Annual ‘Swords of Honour’, recognised throughout industry worldwide as one of the most prestigious of all safety awards.
