The Monckton Coke & Chemical Company Limited operates on a site that has been established since 1874 and manufactures coke and by-products such as tar, benzole, ammonia and electricity from the carbonisation of coal in the safest and most cost effective manner.

The Company is committed to health and safety by developing and promoting a positive health and safety culture that will safeguard the health, safety and welfare of all of our employees, contractors, visitors and members of the public arising from our work activities.

The Company’s objective is to continually improve on health and safety standards of the site. To achieve this we will comply with all relevant statutory provisions and continue to develop our business management systems to ensure compliance with all applicable legal and other business requirements.

We ensure all risks are controlled throughout the organisation by risk minimisation programmes for accidents, incidents and occupational health, and by the provision of relevant information, training, instruction and supervision of all our staff, contractors and visitors on site.  This is achieved by setting of objectives and targets, and cascading them throughout the organisation and then monitoring, auditing and reviewing against our performance, and by continuous enhancement of communications and awareness with our employees, neighbours and other stakeholders.

The senior management on site are directly responsible for compliance with this policy and the communication of this policy to everyone working on behalf of Monckton Coke & Chemical Company Limited.
