Divisions

In 2006, Hargreaves Services formed a joint venture with UK Coal - Coal4Energy Limited - to market domestic and industrial coal in the UK and abroad, using the complementary expertise and resources of the two partner companies. In January 2009 Hargreaves Services bought UK Coal’s stake, thereby making Coal4Energy a wholly-owned subsidiary in the Hargreaves group of companies.

Coal4Energy has unrivalled access to the widest range of coal products, sourced from the UK and abroad; UK Coal plc has granted Coal4Energy the exclusive right to market all of its domestic and industrial coal production (approximately 250,000 tonnes per year).

Coal4Energy satisfies the demands of a diverse market; customers include large industrial users, hospitals, prisons, schools, and coal merchants who supply coal to the general public for domestic heating.

The key to Coal4Energy’s success rests on our ability to satisfy our customers’ needs in terms of coal quality, availability, price and amenity.

Our in-house haulage fleet guarantees our customers a reliable, effective delivery service. We also provide a technical back up service when required and rigorous implementation of Quality Control systems ensure our products meet the highest industry standards.

Coal4Energy is based at our Yorkshire HQ in Glasshoughton, West Yorkshire, where technical, commercial and administrative staff are always available to help with customers’ queries.  Day-to-day contact is provided by a field based team of Domestic Sales Representatives and Industrial Sales Engineers, whose responsibilities include the negotiation of coal-supply contracts, provision of advice and practical assistance with combustion or technical issues.
